2019 Petit Verdot

Wine Lore:  traditionally a blending grape in Bordeaux, Petit Verdot takes center stage here with fruit from the windswept Double Canyon Vineyard in Horse Heaven Hills. Aged five years in American oak, this wine is deep, rich, and layered. Dark and inky with notes of black cherry, stone fruit, red berries, and blackberries. Hints of mint, herbs, toasted nuts, vanilla, coffee, and a touch of smoky bacon round out the palate. The wine is soft, yet structured, with lingering oak and spice.This is a wine of patience: bold and tannic when young, elegant with long barrel aging, crafted to showcase the well maintained vineyard’s character and the varietal’s depth. I would pair this Petit Verdot with grilled meats, aged cheeses, or wild mushroom risotto.
